I'm glad they're starting Elliott.
1. It's the start of the season and he's been well rested to start.
2. He's coming off a big win where he made some big saves, the pressure should be off.
3. He's playing his old team, in his old barn. I don't think he'll have any problems mustering up the energy to play this game.
4. If my rec goalie can regularly play 4 games in 3 days while getting blackout drunk during 2 of those days, then I think an NHL goalie can handle a back-to-back . |

Bouma needs to sit for a few games, maybe pissing him off will get him to play with some sense of urgency.
You can see it in Stajan's game, he knows there's a good chance that he will be sitting in the press box if he is not performing. This is the best I've seen him play in years
If Bouma can't get back to playing that style of game that got him his big contract then it might be time to put him on waivers. It's time for him to realise that he's not a 3rd line scorer, blocking shots on the P.K is not enough to keep him around. He needs to finish every check hard, get into the dirty areas and fight when the situation calls for it. If he's not doing that then he really isn't of any use to us anymore. |

Check your numbers again. Backups don't do any better in back to back situations. The drop off in numbers is far more attributed to the rest of the team that has to play, and usually travel, on back to back nights.
Elliott is an elite athlete. He can handle a back to back every now and then. |

Backlund has been killing you guys.
I also agree about starting Elliott, though he is a bit strange and will be motivated to once again trynto prove to the Blues he is a starter, which he is not and never will be, except for short spurts after the other goalie seems to be favored.
I still do not understand Chaisson playing on that top line.
Hope it is a good game. |

Well said, you want your best goalie in a back to back, I remember so many times when Kipper was called upon on back to back games. |

So if Elliott is actually just a poop backup who was lucky to play for the Blues....what does that make Allen? |

Am I the only one that doesn't like Versteeg on the 2nd line?
I think Ferland should get bumped up too, he has played great |

Great write up Jammer.
I think the Hawks pk is the craziest stat. I mean if you stood still in a box for two minutes moving your sticks in the lanes, with Crawford as you goalie you would think you would come up with a better pk.
It's a combination for them: bad penalties and a bad pk. Now that has to be stuck in their minds a bit.
Goal scoring is up this year to start the season. I think the talent of the young players is titlting it. I think NHL teams going to smaller and more skilled players not only leads to them scoring more, but also causes them to give up more chances. That and there are less really good goalies in the league right now.
I watched the Hawks-Flames game last night. The Flames top line played better, but I saw some dominance by the Hawks.
I think it will be a big mistake starting Elliott tonight. He had to work hard last night. Good to see Matthew get a chance to play at home though I have no idea in hell why the Flames are putting out those lines. Chaisson on the top line is a joke. He killed a lot of their plays last night.
Hope the boys are amped up and destroy the Flames. Kicking them why they are down will help.
I wonder if there is an eye issue with Allen. He was having trouble picking pucks up he said after the last game and it showed.

Moose is facing his old team for the first time, knowing he was going to get ursuped by Allen this year. I don't think he could possibly have any more motivation to win this game. Plus he is beloved in St Louis and will more than likely get a standing ovation from the crowd. Good luck, Moose is gonna kill it tonight!!!
